If you have a lower model Humminbird depth/fish finder (100's-500's) and you damage the transducer wire......it can be fixed! I have a Humminbird 525 with the temp, was running the boat and hit something that knocked the transucer off the back of the boat....it slung up and smacked the transome a few times then stopped working. I thought the transducer was damaged so began looking for another one. $60-$70 prompted me to take a closer look at what I had. Began to pinch the wire and found a place that was soft. Stripped the insulation and there it was, black wire broked, red wire almost borken and the steel wire broken. Very gently stripped and reconnected the little tiny wires and re-insulated the cable....tried it out and it works flawlessly. Been on 4 trips since then and it's still kicking. Soooo....FYI, a broken cable does not always = shelling out big bucks on a new transducer.

Re: Humminbird Transducer, FYI

Thanks, Will...

I have a Humminbird (low end value model) and the manual says "Don't cut or splice the transducer cable."

Glad to know it can be done since I'm experimenting with different mounting configurations off the transom.

Thanks for the info !!

Regards,
Steve
