Humminbird VHF5 squelch problem, Need handheld VHF radio expert

Ok guys here is the deal I have a VHF5 radio all of a sudden will not let me adjust the squelch down to zero, after replacing the battery pack. Every other function on the radio works fine. I can adjust the squelch, only from 4 - 8. I will not zero out the squelch. Any ideas have been searching the web off/on for months. I have tried humminbird as well, no luck.

For anyone else who has one of these, Humminbird VHF5, to reset the radio: turn it off push and hold Memo/M.PRG and Scan/Dual for 3-10 seconds and voila!!!
