Hummingbird Wide one hundred depth finder has been acting up. It has a multitude of symptoms including no bottom signal, reading unreal depths like 288' in 10 feet of water, switching some of the menu settings, beeping 10 or more times for no reason, eventually it locks up and can't even be turned off. This all happens when at anchor in calm water. The transducer is properly mounted and aimed, and I have examined the entire length of cable looking for abrasions or cuts.

Oh yeah, I can hear the transducer pinging.

Any ideas? Is it toast?
Is it even worth trying to fix? After all, I can replace it for $90.

OK, Monday afternoon. I use it mostly as a bottom marker, in relatively shallow water,3-25 feet. Already have a stand alone gps, and a Fish ID Pro portable mounted to the front troller, so a cheap one will do. Eagle Cuda 168 is on sale for $89. There, all done but the installation.

my 300TX did the same thing saturday,we tried to figure it out with no luck but when we pulled the boat out of the water we saw the problem the transducer got knocked straight up so I put it down and went fishing sunday and it worked fine, but you might want to clean the bottom of the transducer with a rag, hope this helps

Re: Hummingbird Can't Fly

It HAD been giving me trouble since late fall, and again this spring. Maybe I'll play with it sometime, but not now. Got to get ready for Canada trip.

I went and got the Eagle Cuda 168, and installed it today. I HAD to go test is out. I must have done it right cause it works. It gets a little skiddish at speeds above 25, but the water was rough today. Its amazing what they can build these days for next to nothing.
