Here we are once more in the woods of Maine where big deer roam!!! It is estimated that one out of every seven deer hunters bag a deer in the state of Maine!!! Approximately 240 thousand+ deer hunters enter the woods of Maine in the month of November and only about 30,000+ deer are harvested!!!! When you see one, you best make the shot count or you may not get a second chance till next year!!!! They are not behind every bush in this state!!!<br /><br />Seven of us are in camp ranging in age from 55- 74 years old!!! In the thirty years that we have been hunting together, we have been very forunate that no one in the group has past on!!!<br /><br />Monday as I started hunting, I humanely took a doe that dressed out at 105 lbs., dropped it in it's tracks after watching it for about 15 minutes,never knew that I was there!!!<br /><br />Tuesday one of my friends bagged a nine point buck at about 12:30pm!!! The buck dressed out at 204 lbs.!!!!<br /><br />The weather is unusaully warm for this time of year,temps are in the 60s, when normal high temps are about 40 degrees this time of year!!!!<br /><br />Normally I'm here for 3 weeks but have to go on federal jury duty for a month starting Nov. 13th!!! Maybe I will get lucky and get thrown of the panel!!!

Not this year!!! In all my years of hunting I have shot over 50 deer but only one ever went over 200 lbs. and that was about three years ago!!! It dressed (guts removed)at 203lbs.!!! Made the list of biggest bucks in maine club!!! The biggest deer taken in maine on record goes well over 300lbs.

My dad and I went to Maine for a few years in a row. Right on the Canadian border in the north maine woods. Really nice up there. First year it was mild, then end of the week got a ton of snow and barely got out. 80 mile trip out on a dirt logging road. <br /><br />Beautiful up there. Never got a deer up there, saw some monsterous moose though. <br /><br />Hey, in NJ, last I heard you can bag two buck a day for the length of the season. I haven't hunted deer here in a while, like shooting fish in a barrel. I did clip one with my car a couple weeks ago if that counts. It ran off, seemed unharmed. (and stupid, ran into the side of the car).
