Hi,

For personal reasons I would like to permanently remove the windshield on my 2004 Hurricane SD187. Basically I want to turn it into an SD188. Can it be done and what type of holes will be left when it is off? Also, what can I fill those holes with if that is needed or desired? Any insight or thoughts on this issue would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Tom

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

I doubt there is any boat windshield that can't be removed. You just have to find all the fasteners. I imagine there will be some screw holes left. A suggestion: Don't permanently fill the holes. Find some plastic plugs to fit. This way you can easily reinstall the windshield, either because you change your mind or because you are selling the boat.

Pictures would help get you more-specific answers.

Well, I tried to upload a picture, but the forum won't take it from a Mac computer. It says invalid file type. Or should I say I don't know how to do it :)

Here's a link to some pictures from a boat just like mine listed on Craigslist:

2004 Hurricane 187sd DECK BOAT - $15500 (Bradenton, FL)

The first picture is as good as I can find right now.

Sorry,

Tom

Thanks to all for your help. I am so glad I found this forum. And now that I have your attention can you answer a few more questions please?

1. I've searched the forums, but I can't find anything on how to value a used motor. Yes, I can use the NADA guides, but how do you factor in the number of hours on it? What is an average hourly usage per year? In particular a 2004-2006 Yamaha 150HP.

2. Is there a web site that has archived owners manuals or sales brochures for older (again 2004-2006) boats?

Thanks in advance.
