I was getting ready to replace my badly worn prop with a new one. Is there any andvantage to michigan prop over hustler. This web page sorta makes the hustler sound like a performance upgrade where as the michigan a good stock replacement. The price is about the same so which one is the better bang for the buck? Also those little zinc deals that are supposed to be eaten away vs your outdrive, when are they shot and need replaced. Mine is tarnished and slightly pitted but still complete. Any other last minute items I should consider doing before a first time boater launches for the season.

Are you running a Mercruiser drive? I have always liked OEM props, especially if you are considering a move to stainless steel. Look on ebay---good deals there.

Do you leave the boat in the water? Are you running in salt? If no is you answer, your zinc is probably okay. I had the same zincs on my old boat for 12 years, but I trailer the boat and do not run in salt.

I assume your oil in the engine and drive is fresh to start the season? I also change gas filters, top off the gas tank with fresh fuel, and throw in a bottle of heat to take care of any moisture that condensed in the fuel tank over the winter. I start my boat on the muffs and run the anitifreeze out in a safe place----if it sits for a few days before you can get on the lake, start it on the muffs again and check all guages before putting in.

Good luck and have fun!

I run a Hustler and really like it. I will use it any day of teh week over the MI Wheel I also have. The hustler seems to have a better grip on the water.

Thanks for the replies. I will trailor the boat and never leave it in the water for more than a few days. I will take your advice on starting and draining the antifreeze. Your help did not fall on deaf ears. I will look into the hustler and see of I boats makes one for this old of merc outdrive. In think bondo or someone told me it was a r model merc. Thanks for all the help.

Nick you must be about five minutes ahead of me. I read one of my posts went back to the other and you were there. Thanks for the posts. I was leaning toward the hustler. I only had my boat out once last fall right after I bought it. The buzzen half dozen 250 gm inline 6 in no real runaway in the power department. Thanks.
