Hydraulic fluid in outdrive

My son just purchased a 1981 Bayliner Eagle (19.5' ski boat) It has a 470 mercruiser I/O. This may sound like a dumb question but where do you check the hydraulic fluid for the tilt/trim? We have the oil changed, engine flushed, rear drive fluid replaced but can't seem to spot the tilt hyd fluid. It is starting and idling well. The drive is engaging in both reverse and forward. About ready to put it in the water but wanted to ensure the hyd fluid is OK. Thanks in advance

Re: Hydraulic fluid in outdrive

I have a 3 liter Alpha 1 Mercruiser. The tilt/trim pump USES OIL, in my case 10w-30. Do not put hydraulic fluid until you check the manual. Using the wrong fluid will cause pump failure.
My bayliner is a 19' and it's located behind the engine, on a shelf. It's an electric motor with a plastic resevoir with two hoses coming out of it.
Good Luck, hope this helped!

Thanks. This is exactly what I needed. I found it no problem.
