Hydraulic Fluid Leak on outdrive

I have a 1981 25' Sea Ray with a Merc 260. When I raise the outdrive I noticed a couple of drops of hydraulic fluid on the ground. It does not leak when lowering the outdrive and when left up overnight it will settle 1/2 way down. I see a spot where the braided line fitting on the port side of the motor leaks a few drops, only when moving up. <br />If I change the line do I need to bleed the air or will it purge the air on its own? If so any special tricks?

It will purge by itself with use. I recently changed the lines on my Alpha 1. It was an easy job.

ronjon, Although the trim/tilt system is self bleeding, I would give it a hand. Install the new line and leave the hydraulic fitting on the cylinder loose. Run the pump until fluid emerges from the fitting, and then tighten it up until it doesn't leak.

I changed the line and it was a breeze. Ran it up and down a few times and topped off the resevoir. No more leaks thanks for all the input.
