Hydraulic manifold torque

I just replaced the hydraulic manifold on my 1996 Bravo 3. When I put it back in the water, there was some water coming in from the lower transom area and I believe it is from the manifold. Most likely I did not torque the nuts enough as I was afraid to over tighten and damage them. What is the official torque spec on the two nuts that secure the manifold to the gimble housing?

Here is a picture of the part I am referring to.
Thanks

Re: Hydraulic manifold torque

i don't know what the officiial torque is but i would imagine its in the 30-40 lb/ft range

i have never looked up the torque spec nor have i used a torque wrench when installing the block - i have never had one leak after installation

did you replace the gasket/rubber insert??

have you checked the bellows??

Re: Hydraulic manifold torque

There is no torque value on that part. Wrist tight or just below breaking will work. if it leaked, then something else is wrong. Corrosion, part of the old gasket still on there, not using a new gasket, etc. etc............

Torque is not what prevents it from leaking, of course finger tight doesn't count.

Howdy,

I removed and replaced that same manifold on mine. I used a new gasket and used a gasket sealant when I put it back on.

There may have been a torque spec, but "good'n-tight" does it.

Absolutely ensure all surfaces are clean.....

Mine doesn't leak.

New gasket and sealant is probably more important though.

Re: Hydraulic manifold torque

Thanks for the info. I did use a new gasket as well as put on a new mercathode unit so it should not be leaking. I will take another look at the gasket and its mounting area to see if it is smooth.
