How difficult and expensive is it to install hydraulic steering on a bass boat? Say a Ranger 361v with a merc 175. Is it even worth the time and effort?

Thanks,
Caine

Re: Hydraulic outboard steering

hydraulic steering isnt cheap. some of the cheaper models will do <150 hp. installing it is very easy as the instructions included are very good. installing the helm in an existing helm spot sometimes requires a dash plate. looking at pics of your boat online it shouldnt be too hard.
in candian $ the kit hits around 1600 for a seastar. baystar is a little cheaper but mounts differently and wont take as much hp.

Thanks for the info, Ben
Sounds like that may be a bit more money and hassle than it is worth. It would be more of a luxury than a necessity anyway.

Cheers,
Caine
