Hydraulic Steering hard to turn

have a 1990 wellcraft with twin 130 yamahas on it,the stering is not smooth and is very hard to turn,what is the best way to find out what part of the system isnt working,it is full of fluid..not leaking anywear..thx for anyhelp

I posted a 93 Yamaha hard to steer post, and found that disconnecting everything really helps to isolate the problem. Have you greased the grease fittings on the motors and taken the steering cable off the connection to the motor and greased that good? While you have the connection off, see if both motors turn easy. My 93 115 takes about 4 - 6 pounds of force to turn in either direction, if you want to use that as somewhat of a benchmark.

If you have the most common system(teleflex sea star) manual hydrolic steering, the instruction manual and troubleshooting guide is at this web address. It helped me fix an issue with mine. Good luck.
