I have a 1996 Bay Stealth with manual steering with 2 cables. The steering is getting real hard and am looking to replace the cables. I've been looking around and was wondering what brand of Hydraulic Steering system you guys think is the best. I have a 150 HP motor and have found some kits rated up to 150, 250 and 300 HP motors. I want something rated for over 150 because if I ever repower I will be repowering with a 225. Thanks for any input, I've kind of been leaning towards the Sea Star brand. Thanks again!

Re: Hydraulic Steering

Teleflex Sea Star is the industry standard...
There are others, but almost any dealer in the US can get replacement parts for the Sea Star.

Re: Hydraulic Steering

How much are you looking to spend and What type of water do you boat in? You Might Look into a Offshore style External Steering system. They are pricey, but you will be thankful if something ever happens mechanically

Rabidfish, thats kind of what I was discovering through my research, thanks for the opinion...The Seastar is pretty much the one I'll probably decide on.

Baja-Of course with lean times I don't want to spend alot. I fish in bay systems down here on the Texas coast, I really feel the Sea Star will fill all my needs, thanks for the replies!
