Slightly confussed about the directions

-instructions say to keep fin 3/8 inch from rear of vent. plate.
-My vent. plate is not square
-what do i line up with, the inside corner of the fin with the back edge?
-is the 3/8 inche measured fromt the point since mine is not square?

i have a 1996 30hp Evinrude, Thanks

I tend to agree with you, but i have a pic of the under shot that shows how much of the fin hangs over. Just doesn't seem right. gut feeling. Just less contact with the vent. plate. Maybe lose 10% of contact from overhang.

I do not think it matters much, you are looking at a tiny bit of difference compared to the whole surface area. I would go with the one on the left, just a gut feel. Rick

Re: Hydro Fin --Simple question

That's one for the left and one for the right. split down the middle.

I guess my biggest concern was Cavation.

Will the placement of the fin screw up the water flow around the prop? or something crazy like that.
