I am a newbee to the forum and new (old boat) owner with a cooling system question. I have a 1992 Four wins Freedom 180, 4.3 L Cobra. Just started working on it, With ear muffs on and attached water hose, it gets hot (I turned it off at 200), no water coming out of the prop. When I tested it the lake, it ran 150 degrees. Do you think the water pump in the gear hosing might be bad? or other ideas? thanks

If it ran ok and didn't get hot in the lake?
But overheated on the hose????
How's the water pressure with the hose?

Remove the rear cover and the cover for the pump.
Inspect!!

if your hose cant fill a 5 gallon bucket in 15-20 seconds, get a bigger hose
