Ok i got my numbers here.
1986 merc 90 L6
WOT 5000-6000 (according to iboats, 5500 from other)
Michigan wheel 17 pitch AL, 13.25 dia
Motor runs good, in good shape
Top speed loaded down, 32.5 mph at 5100rpm (4 people, all gear, kicker motor, 16 gal fuel.. I did not over load the boat but i did put more in than what normally what would be in.)

****will not get on plane with all people in there seat, two back people need to stand behide drive, and passanger, then it will plane out and passengers can sit down with no problem on speed or handleing, motor was trimed to max, could not do it****

I am looking for a good all around performance, top speed not super critical i like to be middle 30s. here is the questions

1. will droping to 15 pitch get me on plane better (i know thats hard say) But will it help? I would like the passengers to be seated when running her up.

2. SS or AL prop (is the gain from ss worth the money, will AL be ineffecient)

3. 3 blade or 4 blade (SS comes in 3 blade only, AL come in 3 or 4 blade)

I would like to keep the prop maker be Solas, i have not heard bad things and i like mine on my smaller boats.

From what you read what prop would you buy if it was you in my shoes? Many thanks for the help i have been given.

Ok, I would go with the 13 inch pitch same diameter in stainless. Reasons, you are on the low end of engine performance peak rpm. Stainless will gain efficency and increase load on the engine. By raising the rpm you will be gaining more power at lower speed to bring the boat up on plane. Unloading the engine by bringing the peak rpm to the correct point will make life better throughout the rpm range. You will most likely get better hole shot too. Thats my story and I'm stikin' to it.
