I have a 1987 WellCraft 192 American

With a Mercruiser AlphaOne
Model MCM140
Serial # A676633

We are refurbing the boat, and took it out on the water with some rough water over the weekend and knicked up the prop when we were trailering.

My questions:
1. if one of the blades are alittle knicked up do i need to replace the prop?
2. Any idea what size or make/model prop i need? the current one is nice and old and i took it off and there is no way to see the pitch or anything off of this one?

Help boys?

Re: I am Clueless about my Props?

repair or replace right away could cause a vibration on propshaft and damage other in ternal parts. there has to be some #'s on that prop. what was wot rpm and speed with it. hard to tell what prop u need with out knowing what this motor is pushing. what kind of boat? weight? length? gear ratio?

theres no one specific prop for any given engine it depends on what pitch your motor can spin while still being within recomended wot rpm range.

example: your motor on a 16' boat would need like a 23- 25" pitch
your motor on a 21' boat would need like a 17- 19" pitch

i'd say a 3 blade 17 pitch should do it. you need wot rpms to be 4200-4600

Look for numbers on the prop under the prop nut.A prop shop can repair your prop,if no numbers they can measure it for you.
Get her repaired give us the prop size, and your max rpm and speed with your typical load.

Find a good prop shop & bring them what you have for repair. They can help from there. If no good ones near by a lot of people use midwestpropeller.com
