I broke a leaf spring... Can't find new ones?

Hey everyone, I just recently purchased a 22' cabin cruiser. It seems my already short boating season got cut even more short as I was on my way to the lake a few weeks ago and broke a leaf spring. I can't for the life of me find another pair. You would think with all the power the internet has I should be able to locate some, but I can't. I know nothing about leaf springs, and am hoping that someone out there can give me some valuable insight as to what I should do. The boat is home, but I still have a busted leaf spring. I've learned a little bit since I started this adventure. The trailer is a Midwest Industries trailer built in 1978, model number SSRB1980T. From what I can tell it's like weight limit deal is like 4000-6000 somewhere in there. My boat weighs right around 4,000 pounds. It's a double axle trailer. The leaf springs have double eyelets with 9/16" bushings I think. They appear to be a little more than 1 3/4" wide. From the middle of each eyelet to the other is 18" from tip to tip is about 19 1/2". There are 4 leaf springs in this set and from the middle of the spring where the axle hooks on 90 degrees vertical is about 3". Anyone have any good luck with online places that may be able to sell me some parts for this trailer? Do my measurements seem correct? I can't believe that I'm having this much trouble finding springs. Never has it been so hard to find somewhere to spend some well earned money! Thanks in advance for the help!

You may want to check with auto or truck repair shops in your area. There could be a small shop that makes leaf springs. We have one here where I live called Lyn Springs in New Gloucester maine.

Northern Tool & Equipment or a spring shop. Often they are alignment shops that do spring work too.

I agree about finding a local spring shop. I was considering replacing the springs and bushings on my old Caulkins trailer and couldn't find anything close online or at the local farm store. I took one into a spring shop and they immediately knew exactly what they were and gave me a price quote for new ones. After some discussion they told me they were still in decent shape and were originally rated for twice weight of my trailer so I just bought new bushings and re-used the old springs.

Hey thanks for the responses. I think my best bet is to take the broken one off and bring it around to some shops then. I tried all of the chain stores. Nobody has what I need. (Northern, Fleet Farm, TSC). I checked some websites, but none are having the size I need. I should probably get a second set of eyes on it because I must not be measuring something right if I'm having this much trouble.

I have a home built trailer under my boat. It has GM spindles and wheels and I am guessing that has something to do with the odd size of my leaf springs too. My springs are not broken but need new bushings. I am going to a local spring shop to have mine rehabbed. I suspect you will have to go the same route.

I would look at replacing all 4 and use Stengelbros, I ordered 4 new leaf springs from them this last winter and the ones I got where made in the USA

A quick look I found some that are 18 3/8 rated 1600lbs, 3 leafs, so total 6400lbs for 4.
On my trailer I could not find the perfect length and went with some springs slightly longer and they worked fine, not quite as much travel but plenty for all practical purposes.
Mine where double eye.
