First of all, I would like to thank everyone that responded to my previous posts and gave me great advice on things I needed to do prior to putting the boat in the water. I strongly believe that the forums help contributed greatly to my successful first launch.
The boat ran amazingly well, acceleration was good, idol was good, handling, and overall temp stay between 120 and 160 depending on how I was driving. I was to excited and busy to get any pictures today, but I am taking the family out for the first time tomorrow and will have plenty of pictures to share tomorrow evening.
I do have a couple of questions about speed/rpm's. I am running a 1987 mercruiser 165 with an alpha one outdrive and a 19 pitch prop in a 1987 Chaparral 198F. At WOT I was able to achieve 4200 rpm's max. I was wondering if this is normal or if I am lacking somewhere as the tachometer will read up to 6000 rpm's.
As for top speed at WOT I had a friend of mine in his brand new Malibu come along side while I was topped out (since I don't have a speedometer) and he matched my speed at 42 mph. I am wondering also if this is a consistent top speed for this year and make of the boat. Please don't take this wrong, I am completely happy with the performance of the boat and just curious as to whether or not this is on par with where it should be.
Thank you again for your experience and knowledge.
