I have a 1986 140 h/p alpha 1 drive s/n B448797 that I have to replace the engine coupler in. Does anyone know what is the best service manual I need to buy to help me Thanks Jimmy

Don S. can suggest the manual for you.I'm not sure of his source,or how he does it.But he does it well.

Also consider a new u-joint shaft,the one that rides in the coupler.It's worn,and will ruin the new coupler real fast.

You need Mercruiser service manual #10 for your engine. It's PN is 90-14693--1
Section 2 covers removal and installation.
Your local Mercruiser dealer can order you one, or you may find one on ebay.
