I have a 1987 mercury classic 45 hp with problems.

My engine will always idle really fast and will not reach top rpms. HELP PLEASE. Also I have rebuilt both carbs,fuel pump and replaced the fuel tank and all hoses and connections, compression is 115 on all cylinders, plugs are good

What does link n sync mean?

Drop the lower unit and check exhaust tube for blockage.------And link & sink means you need to synchronize carburetor opening with ignition advance.

I finally figured out neither carb have a idle tube in it. Will a motor run correct without them?
