i have a 1989 evinrude 60 hp motor with carb problems

i cleaned the carbs and put a new fuel pump and filter.don't know what the pin on top of carb's are so didn't take them out to clean them.the problem is this i can't get full power and when i do the first wave the boat hit's it loses full power then it feel's like i'm on 20hp then 60 could someone help me out? thank you

Hi Run the motor at night in the dark and see if you can see any sparks arcing from wires to the crankcase. Mine was doing the same thing as yours and once I cleaned up the arcing with new wires, dielectric grease in the boots ,some added ground wires and some wire insulation my boat runs like my toyota 4-runner. Run it at night with the cover off. Be careful though. MonDoo

the ground wires are clean and thier are new wire's and spark plugs.......

what are the pin's for on the top of the carb's?<br />and should i take them out as well to clean them.
