I have a 69 merc 80hp

I have mercontrols for my motor. Is one of the cables for throttle and one for gears. How does choke work? I rewired the control with one of those six connection key choke type switches. Can anyone explain. Thanks.

Ok I rewired the ignition with one of those push the choke turn key ignition with the six connector on the back. I can turn the motor over after I wired it but have yet to start it. How do I check to see if the choke is working when I push I in and turn the key? I trying to make this work. Thanks!

i have a 100hp same era sometimes the solenoid sticks so i can manually lift the choke on top of motor under the cowl by pulling the manual choke knob up and down also if you turn key on push choke button you will hear a click if choke works and the cables, one is gears and throttle in one, and one is throttle fast idle for warm up.could you send pics for id.

The big lever is the gear shift and throtle all in one. The first stage is gear change then the throtle comes into play. The small lever on the right is the fast idle.

One cable is for the throttle and the other is for shifting. Do you have the model number of the Mercontrol?
