We need a HP to determine the exact year, probably 1973 though. maxrules.com has Canadian serials in their model year guide.
Eric

Yep, 1973. Nice motor, I have one, it's one year off from being solid state ignition though. :p
Eric

Can you please show me where I can get parts diagrams for parts and such...I was told last year from a reputable dealer that there was more than one type of igdition used on this model. Where can I get parts for this thing. I really want to rebuild this motor and get it running in top notch.

This site :http://www.crowleymarine.com/mercury_mercruiser_parts.cfm gives you the option to search for parts with a) product line, b) model year, and c) horsepower. But when I enter in all my information a=mercury, b=1973, and c=7.5, I get asked which of these two numbers is my outboard? The two numbers are 1) 1075203, and 2) 1075223. Which number is mine? Please help me!

Hi, Sorry, I haven't been here in a while. Looks like on that site the 1075203 and the 1075223 have at least most of the same part #'s, I'm not sure what the difference is.
I've never tried to convert a point/condenser 7.5 to solid state, it might be possible but probably not worth the trouble. Points and condenser work great when set right anyways.
Eric
