First off. don't use starter fluid ever again. 2 stroke engines need fuel and oil. Starter fluid has no oil. Put some of your fuel/oil mix in a spray bottle and use that in place of starter fluid. If it'll run for a bit with that sprayed in the carb but not off the tank, you'll need to do some work on your fuel system. Even running for a few seconds out of water can damage your impeller.

Here's a good place to start...

You would probably come out better to remove and clean the carburetor. That way you could cross that off the list of possible problems.

Remember, the tank, hose, bulb, fittings, fuel pump, fuel line, filter, and carb are all part of the system. Every part has to work.

thanks for reminding me about the other things that have to work also, ill have to check them out! the pull cord came off today... right before the re-coil started acting up... how deos one go about adjusting that?, id like to thank everyone again, i dont have anyone to help me other than you guys and i know very little myself. the only way i can afford to boat is by buying cheap stuff... and if i dont go fishing as much as i can then life catches up 2 me... so thanks again people! i actually got it to run for a couple minutes... its looking a little brighter for my $75 investment. i caint wait to put it on the dinghy and catch a bunch of salmon!!!!
