It may not be fully vented, I was on one play boat like that in which you had to raise the engine cover and vent the engine compartment, it had blowers but they didn't vent to the outside. There was louvers along the gunwales but I'm not sure if they were connected to the fans. There was a warning above the ignition switch to raise hatch and run blowers for 3 to 5 minutes before starting.

Where to the two corrugated hoses on the side go to? Do they possibly go to the louvers under the side windows in the gunwale? Do you have any switches for blowers? Any unknown switches?

A couple of suggestions. First an I/O boat is required to have a blower. Secondly, there should be vents that work passively, while underway, to vent the engine compartment. I recommend you find them, and make sure they are working, or you will likely be driving da bomb, and not in the good sense.

Third, check out the air cleaner. Make sure it is a marine rated spark arrestor. If the motor backfires thru the carb w/o a spark arrestor, remember that bomb scenario?

x -2 on the quote and it does look like a great boat. It should provide you many years of pleasure. Congratulations!

Nice boat. It looks like it will be fun.

Is that a 454 attached to an Alpha One?

Its a good thing there is a drive shower on there. That outdrive is going to be working really hard to handle all that motor. The drive shower is required to keep it cool.

I was just thinking the same thing... 454 is way over Alpha I 300 hp limit correct?

Still a killer boat!

I'd love to hear it!

Congratz dude!

Very nice boat, I love the lines of the wellcrafts I wish I still had mine. I agree with everything above, I would also keep an eye on the thru hull exaust they look fine but there is a lot of sealant around the inside. May be fine but I would keep an eye on it. And that is alot for an alpha one to handle power wise, so make sure the shower is working well and you keep the lower end/gear lube always topped off and changed a couple times a year depending on usage. Also make sure the trim limit is set right if not you could have problems with ujoints if you were to run at too high of a trim level. Way nice boat though.....

Re: i just bought this

I am leaving at 5 am in the morning and I have no trailer brake wiring for my GM 1/2 ton 4x4. I just picked up a spare tire for the trailer tho as I have a 5 hour drive to get this thing home. Thought it would be a good idea to have a spare.I am not even sure this trailer has breaks tho. I guess I will be going nice and slow. I was wondering about an LS6 454 big block. I will have to be carefull and hope I dont torch the leg. The engine only has 25 hrs on it.

Thankyou for all your compliments. I bought it for 4 grand from a widower and figured I cant be going to wrong. Anyways I will be posting quite a few questions as I have never owned an inboard before. Apparently this boat goes like a bat out of hell. Bored 30 over with "worked" heads and I see aluminum exaust manifolds. I see some advice on correct air breather and I will be asking more about stuff like that once I get it here safely. I really appreciate the kind welcome.
Back with more tommorow night hopfully parked safely at my house. Maby back on here Saturday morning if I am too beat to type.
Cheers.

Oh another question. What are thoes black ovals on the nose of the hull? could those be venting of some kind? air pick up? I see absolutly no venting at all on this thing. That worries me. Am I missing this does anyone see venting?

Those ovals on the front are docking lights.

The vents are under the black parts just aft of the windshield. It is pretty typical to try and hide the vents. Don't worry too much about it. The boat had to be built with passive ventilation to the engine compartment. I would guess there is also a working blower.
