I love Costco

I don't go to Costco as much as I used to but I still spend around $3K a year there.

Just recently, the wine fridge that I bought there decided to fail so I contacted the manufacturer regarding the warranty. Warranty was one year so I went back to Costco to see when I bought it. They have everything I buy in computer records. I was dismayed when I found out I had purchased it 2 years ago. When I told the Costco guy my story, he told me to just bring it back for a full refund. 100% satisfaction guarantee unless its after 90 days on a TV, computer and a few other items.

Bought another wine fridge with my refund and I am a happy camper.

When making a large purchase at Costco, I always use my Costco American Express card, so not only do I have the guarantee with Costco, American Express extends the warranty period as well, works out real nice if something goes wrong.

I always use my American Express but was not aware of the warranty extension. Not that it matters if Costco takes it back. I was lucky that Costco had the near identical model to buy again but I would have had a problem if they didn't.

How long is the warranty extension typically?

It depends on the item purchased and which Amex you use, I have 4 Amex accounts, my True earning reward card normally extends the warranty up to 2 years beyond the manufactures warranty, which on many electronics now a days is only 90 days.

Another thing I like with my Amex cards, is they also include roadside assistance, such as towing, gas if I run out, so they work out pretty good.

I have the TrueEarnings Business Card. I will need to investigate.

I have AAA for my roadside assistance. Needed it twice in the last month for jump starts. Are you telling me I don't need AAA too? :)

It is kind of difficult to navigate the website to find the different perks that come with the various Amex cards, but they are there if you keep digging.

I have had nothing but good experiences with Costco. Bought a flat screen there. After 23 months the screen went out. Called them and they arranged a service co. to pick up and evaluate. As the repair would cost more than the replacement, they told me to go to the store and get a full credit and I was free to purchase any replacement. Over the counter replacement was for year 1 and repair or credit (their choice) for year 2. Got the same unit at a lower price. My Garmin gps locked up 10 months after purchasing. They replaced it on the spot.

Mixed feelings on Costco vs Sams Club given they are both near me. Joined Costco specifically to buy a tv and at the outset Costco seemed superior but over time found ourselves liking Sams Club more. Costco one time pissed me off really bad after my wife was recovering from one of her Cancer surgeries, she was feeling good one day and wanted to go to Costco to get up and about...she quickly started feeling very bad and the out door was unaccessable due to the massive crush of people in line to leave getting their carts reviewed. We tried leaving through the entry door and thougt I was going to have to start throwing punches since they blocked our exit refusing to let us leave the store. I had to push past security. Wow did that **** me off...no more Costco for us.
