I was doing some haggling and trading with my Father-in-law today and made a great score. I traded for a 1969 Johnson 1.5 hp outboard. Model # 1R69. This little motor looks like it just came out of the dealers showroom and runs like brand new one. I also have ALL the original books and paperwork it came with.
Does anyone know how the parts for something like this are to find? No probs now but you never know down the road. I am going to use it on my aluminum lake boat when I fish the small conservation lakes around here. Thanks for any input. God Bless. Dave

No it is water cooled. My nephew has used it quite a few times on an 18 ft canoe. It really made that canoe scoot. It should push my 14 ft lake boat at nice leisurely pace. For bigger water I still have my 9.6 hp. I will post some pics of it soon. Dave

I run several older motors, some even from the 1950's. You should have no problem getting parts. Google Laing's Outboards. They have most all common ones. Or, check out: http://www.aomci.org/ If Laing doesn't have it, they will know where to look.

Regardless of how it sems to run, a good idea would be to replace the water pump impeller anyway. I wouldn't trust 40 year old rubber.
