For the last few decades I've been fishing with spinning rods and occasionally my downrigging rod with a level winder. I tried a baitcaster about 10 years ago. It was a fairly cheap setup and I didn't fair to well, so I gave up early.
It's time to give it an honest attempt. I'm partial to Shamano reels but have no idea what I should look for in a rod, as in length, stiffness, brand etc. All opinions and suggestions are welcome. Price is a factor but I've had it with cheap.
