I need a stator for a 79 35hp model 35935a ele start.

Ok I found some stators but they dont look like what my motor has, I have a stator the all the componets are all in one unit. it has the four wire and the yellow wires all in one spot. and there are no other senser on the metal plate that the pic show. the other part is I run ligth for night so do they make a higher amp out put stator for this motor?
this is one of the only parts left that i have not replaced and I run in to a ramdom no spark problem I have new wireing and the power pack is only a year old, coils,and rectafier is new but I runs good then with no reason It will loose spark. some time it seam when its warm it works better then when its cold out. ran every test and every thing test good but I cant explain so im now down to replacing parts. and Help

Your stator was part number 581651, now replaced by 763770. Or, CDI aftermarket part number 173-1651. I don't seem to be able to find an interchange here at iboats.

EDIT: Oops, yes I did find it here at iboats. CDI brand

Some will be open coils, some will be potted coils, doesn't really make a big difference.

All are 5 amp. I've never heard of a higher output one for that motor.

Thanks. so was it built with seperate pick ups and some one change this over or did they use two dif stators designs? the Evinrude parts page show 3 dif parts. I will just go with a new stator and base plate. Thanks.
I ran the boat over the summer and ran great now that hunting and weather suck boat starts to break down :facepalm:

The differance between stators is that one is for an electric start and the other is for a pull start. Look for my post in Evinrudes....wrong stator ? I have a pic of both

hey would the stator rubbing on the fly wheel cause the stator to go bad? I found that the plate was broken when i removed it and was letting it rub. I plan on replacing that to but want to know what might make a stator go bad. any ideas. Im starting to think that if it was off center it might not have be getting a full charge to send to coils. Saw on some ones post about a dealer fix on 79 rudes that this was a problem? Can I fix the dealer recall my self.
