have an 85 Johnson 150. What is the best way to hoist this motor? There are three threaded holes in the flywheel for the puller that could be used for attaching a hoist hook. Is this a good way to lift it or should I use a rope sling around the motor? The motor weighs about 400 pounds.

Thanks in advance

David

Is there not a tab on the top of the motor for hoisting it up?? perhaps someone in the past removed yours.

All the big motors I have seen, down to and including my old evinrude 40hp and my Johnson 100HP have hoisting tabs on them for this purpose..

If not, I'd see if I counld find somewhere to bolt one.. you are asking to break something by wrapping a rope around the motor.

I made the mistake of lifting my 100HP motor onto my boat by hand, by myself..

I won't do that again.

regards

Franki
