I have a 87 Sea Ray Seville CC with the Merc 4cyl. (165), i have already done all the upgrades to coolant problem, Alternator conversion, speedi sleeve the end of cam shaft. The problem is the shifting cable sticks and i want to replace that cable, and also i have a coolant leak because my bilge gets anti-freeze in it, and i believe it is coming from the coolant reservoir gaskets underneath (part that sits on top of the exhaust manifolds that has the radiator cap). Where do i order this gasket and cable from so i know that i am getting the correct and best style?

Am not sure what you mean by WHERE you should order the parts from, but I do recommend going into a marine supply store that is an authorized mercruiser dealer- with your engine serial number and having them look up the parts on microfiche, computer, or an illustrated parts breakdown manual. Write down the info as well as the quoted prices and then look up the stuff online. Sometimes you pay more online when you factor in the time and shipping charges.

amen.

this will not win me any friends, but...

i would go to an actual "shop", (like a marina type shop. one that actually repairs boats, and sells parts...i think i said that how i meant to...yeah)

the "box stores" (not mentioning names) tend to have uninformed people who cannot give you any information.

the small shop will try to help. he needs the business, and wants you to come back. nothing against internet sites. my only issue, is getting a question anwered is kinda tough.
