Is that the model on the outboard? Then you don't have a 115hp outboard

If so, then:
Model: 856X4L:
Make: Chrysler/Force
Year: 1984
Horse Power: 85HP

well, the top on the engine says 115 chrysler..but yes, on the moter under the cover the model # says 856X4L serial # 1238. Is it possible to put the wrong top on the motor then?

THANKS!

Yes, If that is the model stamped on the plate to the engine. then you have a 85 horse.

Many time people will break the cowl. Or flew off on the water. Just found another one and put it on.

Sneaky people will put on a higher rated HP cowl to fool a potential buyer.

but, that being said. Your engine is a 85 hp built in 1984

If the engine is 4 cylinder is a 115 hp.
Somebody changed the identification plate. Why???

That makes no sense why someone would change the plate.
Whats the capacity plate on the boat say for max HP? Perhaps someone wanted to fool the DNR by sticking a lower HP plate on.

Count the spark plug wires.

is there plate on the engine ? or is this scratched or markered in?

Any way of posting some pics of the engine?
