I purchased a Chrysler Lone Star 1969 Sail boat that I'm restoring. Right now I removed all of the stickers and the difference between the current, and the old hull is very obvious. What are different ways I could restore the hull of the boat?

I really cant afford to repaint it.

*on a side note, I cleaned out all of the gunwale and the attached seating with 409 and magic eraser which removed just about everything. But there are alot of areas where it looks like there was some type of resin that got all over the seats and parts of the gunwale at one point in time. I cant remove it with anything I tried, any suggestions?

That gelcoat might be tough to bring back to life, but . . . I would try the sanding as suggested. Wet sanding with about a 300 grit to start and then go finer.

As for the stains. It may be teak oil . . . the only thing that I have found to get hardened teak oil off is acetone. Just be careful as the acetone will tend to soften the gelcoat if used excessively.

Not saying it wasn't a ton of work. I started with 600. went down to 3000 in steps. I think mine was worse tho
