I just bout a Lowes Roughneck 17ft side console all welded aluminum boat. It has a factory live well. Well the older gentleman I purchased it from had the thru hull drain fitting for the livewell removed and fiberglassed over. Well i want to get the livewell working again. It has a transom mounted pump that goes to the livewell spray fill. Inside the livewell is the over flow and drain, both of wich have no hose connected. My plan is to remove the fiber glass on the hull and out in a thru hull fitting. Then connect the hose from the drain and overflow, with the use of a y fitting to the thruh hull fitting. Now the question i have is will water enter the boat via that fitting or will the water stop at the level of the water line outside the boat? Does my plan sound ok or any suggestions?

Welcome to iboats!

The water would stop at the same level as the waterline. But you should use separate intake and drain fittings. With your setup, you would merely recirculate much of the water.
