I just pulled the boat out of the water for the season... water level too low... Anyways, after doing a acid wash on the hull I notice fiberglass showing on the V of the hull below the waterline. There are no loose fiberglass hairs and its still solid when i poke it with a flat head screw driver. Im not sure if this is from me or the past owner considering i made the mistake not checking under the hull when i bought the boat last year. How worried should i be with this? Think any water got into the hull?? I plan on getting this fixed before next spring.

Thanks for any suggestions and/or help.

Re: I need help!!

thats a 40-50 dollar fix if you are up to some d.i.y. sand down the edges to make sure anything loose is removed. wipe down 3 times with accetone. tape a straight line down both sides so you dont get gel coat everywhere. cut a hole in a bin bag and make a arm protector as gel coat runs down a brush all over place when used upside down. put on glooves and ppe then mix a small ammount of gel coat and paint the area 2-3 coats if the gel starts to set quit and allow to cure. if you dont have the gel level yet then sand the gel coat to get rid of the wax wipe with accetone then apply more coats until its a little proud then let it cure. then sand and sand and sand using a finner grit as you go until its nearly invisible. then stand back and admire it till have to do it again. gel is about $15 a quart, color agent is $3 if needed the rest is a quart of accetone, mek, sand paper, brushes etc
