I was fishing with my Pro V 150 Yamaha when it started making noises in the lower unit. I brought it home, and removed the grease plug, and found that there were a few metal shavings stuck to the plug. The boat ran fine, and had plenty of power. So what could be making these noises? Please help.[/quote]

I assume you're running a stainless prop. It's not unusual for tiny slivers of metal to stick to the drain magnet. Metallic in the gearlube, burnt black gearlube, and metal chunks in the gearlube would concern me. Make sure the prop nut is good and tight. With the motor off and gearshift in neutral, give the prop a spin and watch the end of the propshaft for wobble. You might've hit something.

Yes,I am running a stainless prop, but I am sure I did not hit any thing. The grease is burnt, and after removing the lower unit, and trying to turn the shaft, there is a grinding, or rough fell to it. Could this be gear damage or a drive shaft problem? Thanks for the help.
