I have a 2006 Yamaha F150 on my boat. After the proper break in,I ran it up to WOT a couple times and found I was barely getting into the RPM range Yamaha reccomends.I got to 5K and they specify 5-6000.

At the time I picked up my boat the dealer didn't have the right SS prop for my motor so I started off with a 14x19 Yamaha aluminum model.

I went to the dealer and picked up the SS prop they reccomended for my boat. It ends up being a Yamaha Saltwater Series 15 1/4x17.

In theory I should gain about 400 RPMs by going to a 17" pitch, but now I've read that SS lowers RPM by about 150-200.

Is the smaller SS prop going to be any better than the larger Aluminum?

In the end I'd like to get to at least 5500 RPMs,if not more.

Re: I need more RPMs

Put the ss 17 pitch on and see what the numbers are first.then you can by that.
