Teenagers, Can't live With em and you can't shoot em!

My teenage stepdaughter is going to be going to my almater for a degree in math and secondary education. As an almuni I was able to wave the application Fee, and made her a deal that she could stay here if she wished at no cost (room and board at the school is $7000.00 a year, she currently stays with her father, my wife did not want to force the kids out of school.

Anyway her father and Us have repeatly told her that she needs to get a job as we will not be providing entertainment money. She then proceeds to ask if she can go to florida (drive down w/her boyfriend who she as only known for 4 months). Her father tells her no as does my wife. 2 weeks later Rachel tells us that her father said she could go but he was told he was not paying anything.

So she goes and then comes back found out that her father did give her money.
and then she says to my wife "thanks for asking if I wanted to go to the shore with you." ( we leave for vacation tomorrow) To which she replies your supposed to be working!

Here we almost into August and she still has no job and probably won't have on.

I had a job from the moment I was 13 and learned that money did not grow on trees! Everytime we try to install some self-reliance on the kids we get sandbagged by my better halfs ex.

Thanks for letting me rant.
