Re: I now know the true definition of insanity

LoL....I thought your topic was about work.....but I guess potty training is work....Lol...

Brings back memories of potty training my grand son. I highly recommend getting the children's video called Bear In The Big Blue House. I don't know if they make it on DVD, but it works well and I can still recite the potty song word for word....LOL....
If your twins are boys, use Cheerios to "target practice" with in the toilet....LOL... they become pretty good shots when you play "sink the Cheerio" LoL.... Thanks for making me laugh about some of my memories.:D

Re: I now know the true definition of insanity

^^ Thanks for the tip!

I know this will be over and gone before I know it but his is proving to be a little more challenging than I thought. My twins are boy/girl so you can only imagine the struggles we're having.

Glad I could make you laugh today!

Re: I now know the true definition of insanity

I have a video of my daughter when she was about 3, singing Jesus Loves Me on the hopper....she sees me taping....stops singing and says "dad..I'm goin poop"....then starts singing again. She won't let me send it to AFV...might be able to pay for college with it....but she still won't let me send it.

At 2? Good luck with that. My son just recently got 100% with it and he's 3.5. It was very frustrating and took quite a while. He was always too busy to stop and go. But one day it just clicked and we had no more accidents. Sure don't miss changing those diapers. It was getting hard coming up with different ways to seem busy so my wife would have to do it :p:D

Re: I now know the true definition of insanity

Mrs. QC came up with a trick that has made her a legend. This has worked for a couple of kids, so legend may be strong, but the other families mention it all the time. I think this has only been tried with boys, and we have only boys. They need to know how already, but still have "accidents", and it seems that they just don't care etc. Simply tell him the store is out of diapers. Make a big deal out of the last couple that you have in the house. "One more" and then, "that's it, oh well you're just going to have to be extra careful." Bunch of stuff like that. And follow through with it. Best if you are somewhere that accidents aren't a really big deal. They're smart enough to know that diapers are what save them, so if they have one on, "what the heck, might as well use it" . . .

Ahhhh EZ you bring back memories......my boys are 25 and 19 now but I remember the diaper days like they were yesterday.
Didn't take long to figure out to have a new one ready to cover the dang "rainbird" sprinkler that would shoot to the ceiling once cold air hit it!!:D

Mine too bud mine too!! Nothing like teaching a 15 yr old to drive a Dodge 3500 Cummins quad cab long bed!! If nothing else she can be a school bus driver!!

My favorite question, "Dad are you sure I have enough room?"

Me "trust me sweetheart, he will move"

At 2? Good luck with that.

I know it seems early but they were starting to tell us when they messed their pants. So we thought we would give it a try. Their pretty good at letting us know, but only when it's to late!

We had a goal of having them out of diapers by summer but I don't think it's going to happen. Those swimmy diapers are disgusting. Even worse when they dooky in them and it.....never mind I won't go into details!

Ah yes, I remember those days...not so long ago since my boys are 8 and 5. Mine were about 3 1/2 before they finally got it too. I've heard girls get the hang of it more quickly- got plenty of frustrated stories from my wife about her friend's 2 year old girls who were already trained when we were still trying to get our 3 yr old boys out of diapers.

I don't remember the exact timeline but I know we had the same experience. We were excited that he was telling us and thought we'd get a jump on the whole thing. Didn't work out too well though :p Took a while longer to actually get it. So great when they finally get it for sure!
Just this morning mine felt he deserved a lollipop for getting on the potty and farting :p:D

Re: I now know the true definition of insanity

I've got boy/girl twins that turned 5 last week, so I know what you're going through. Mine didn't catch on until about 3 1/2, and my son got it first. I hope it goes quicker for you but with summer coming it's tough as it's always more fun to run around outside than go in the house. As others have said though, it goes quick. Last summer my oldest was 6 and he peed off the bow for the first time. With the life jacket on it was a little complicated but he figured it out. The look of pride in his eyes was pricelss. Good luck to you.

Re: I now know the true definition of insanity

Man it seems the average age is around 3 ? so we?re real early!

Surprisingly enough my daughter is doing great. She only had two accidents yesterday. She?ll just be playing along, stop in her tracks and drop her toys, run over to the potty and do the deed and run right back to her toys like she didn?t skip a beat.

My son on the other hand????.
