I have a 17' 1977 Renken with a 140 HP Mercruiser engine. The last owner let the poor thing sit under some pine trees growing mold for 6 years. I have taken out all of the rotten wood, seats, and carpet. The engine housing was lost also. I would like to know where I can get a plan and material list to build another. I would really appreciate any help.....Thanks to any help! -Jeremy

Re: I/O engine housing

Hello, When you say engine housing I think you are referring to the engine cover or hatch? If the cover was wood and is rotted you can usually build another if you are handy. It's constructed out of marine grade plywood and fiberglass resin and woven mat. You would build the box with wood and apply the resin and woven matting for strength and water resistance. You could sand any corners rounded and apply extra resin and cloth for a smoother look. After you are done you could just cover the whole thing with marine grade carpet or vinyl or just give it a coat of paint. Shouldn't cost too much and will keep 'ya busy on a weekend! Hope this helps! :)
