I would like to be able to sleep on the boat. So far I am probably only going to be able to do a twin sized air mattress in the bow that stretches down the length of the floor. Does anyone have any experience or ideas about bow fill-in cushions that would maybe allow two people? An old man with two artificial hips and one artificial knee did not function too well on the beach in a tent this past weekend!

What boat?

Surely not an open bow runabout. No way 2 adults could comfortably sleep on most bows, or down between the windshields/consoles.

Cuddy cabin w a horse front cushion? A piece 3/4 plywood could be cut to fit the inside if the horseshoe and be laid flush w the existing benches w cleats mounted 3/4in down from flush. Then custom make a new cushion to fit w the existing. Remove both when not in use. Storage could be a problem for the cushion, but the plywood could be tucked under 1 of the bench cushions

If you no longer have need of the benches, a more permenant setup could be made, then 1 large cushion could be made to cover the entire biw area.

As he posted on the Pontoon Forum, I assume the OP is speaking of a pontoon boat. If that is the case I suggest he consider that the furniture on a pontoon boat can be rearranged or removed if desired. Perhaps the solution is to remove enough furniture before the trip (e.g., a long lounging sofa) to make room for an inflatable bed. Or bring two boxes to support a sheet of plywood at the same height as furniture seats on both sides of the boat, and rest an inflatable bed on the plywood and seats. It's kind of hard to know what is possible without a picture of the furniture arrangement.

^^ Yes, Exactly! ^^

Something that's quick and easy to pitch/breakdown works awesome! Set the tent up in the evening, break it down in the morning and set out the stackable chairs for that day's cruise. We used to vacation on multi day trips/excursions via pontoon boat. Yes, you need to be creative - and prepared!
