I'am relacing steering cables

I'am replacing steering cables in my 84 boat. It has a rack and pinion Detmar helm. Are most steering cables brands interchangable with a Detmad helm? Thank You

I have not heard of Detmar. What I found is that recently cables for rack and pinion systems are not replaceable. In the past they were. It is also likely that if you find a replacement cable, it will be 85% of the total cost of the complete system. I would price a common set-up like Teleflex, and compare it to a replacement cable for your original, if you can find one. The low-end Teleflex complete rack and pinion is $160.

Seems they've bought up All the competition........

You can get a Complete Helm,....... With the Cable........
