Dragonfly.... The engine is a 1974 model. If it's been sitting for some time, in all probability the carburetor is fouled and will require removing, cleaning, and rebuilding.

To check the spark.... remove the s/plugs. If you don't have a regular spark tester, insert a small philips screwdriver into the rubber plug boot. Hold it approximately 1/4" to 7/16" away from the block while someone else cranks the engine. If you have spark, the carb is the problem. If no spark or faulty spark, get back to us with a explanation of the results of the spark test, what it looks like etc.

Thanks! We did the spark test today and had good sharp spark at both plugs. Have new plugs that have factory gap, will get gap set tool today and insure .030 gap. Have new gas, drained old supply line still won't run. Next?

Put a little gas in a mister bottle, like an old nosespray bottle. Pull the plugs, shoot some gas mist into each hole, reinstall plugs/wires quickly and pull the rope. It should at least bark at you. Sounds like you need to pull the carb and clean it, maybe put a kit into it. Best case scenario is a complete disassemble and overnight soak in carb cleaner. At least hose it down and out with spray carb cleaner then reinstall and try it. Probably a gunked up carb...old gas turns to varnish and gunks up carbs. Good luck.

Day off and beautiful in AR.!! Cleaned filter, looked ok actually, then tried the spray in the plug hole and it popped right off, just would not keep running, how do I get to the carb? Thanks a bunch, it was fun to see it at least run!! Dragonfly

Well I've never worked on a 74 Fastwin but I've taken a 1950 Fastwin completely down and put it back together again. You need to get the engine cowls/cover off and then go from there. If you don't have a manual, nows the time to get one...otherwise misfortune lies just ahead.
