I would appreciate a year of manufacture on a Hiawatha 7.5hp Bailmaster. Serial#43652431 and Model#65-OM3-25-7985A. Owner stated that it was parked 10 years ago because it had a water pump problem? (Impeller) He said that the parts were no longer available. I am thinking that this was built by Gale which has plenty of parts availability. Is there any collectors value in rebuilding this motor? I just want to rebuild it as a useable motor. Also need to know what type of tank to use. Any help would be appreciated!
Ownsbud56

I'm afraid to say that although many Hiawathas were Gales, that one isn't.

That's a '56 Scott-Atwater built 7.5hp. The Bailmaster is the giveaway, only Scott-Atwater had it (Bail-A-Matic). Neat idea, but a bad implementation.
Here's a few resources:
web.a-znet.com/~scottguy/
scottatwater.com/

I belive Sierra makes some parts for it, maybe the impeller. They're avalable via Iboats, etc.

Hope that helps!

Thanks Paul! Do you know what type of fuel connector it uses? And do you know any other sites for information or parts? Thanks again!

ownsbud56

No trouble. :)
I think the fuel connector is it's own special one. I'm not really very familiar with these - they're totally rare here.

I finally did remember though a good parts place:

laingsoutboards.com (lots of scott-attwater parts, including fuel connectors.)

And of course TCoutboards.com has a great junkyard. I had a look through the Sierra catalog - they've really only got ignition parts (points & condensors).
