ID on MC-1 Outdrive

Hi I am new to this forum.

I live in Australia and have just purchased a 1974 Aristo 19. It was originally supplied with a Mercruiser 165 Over the years thing have been changed around a bit however.

When I bought it it had a 470 sitting in it but not bolted up. I think the leg is original though. Since then I have tracked down a 165 and will fit that.

Can someone help me with an ID on the leg? I have waded through lots of sites but can't really get a definite year and ratio from the serial number. Number is 4670937 B. Looks to me to be about 1976 1.98: 1 would that be correct.

That serial number is from 1976, yes, but unless it's not original, then the ratio should be 1.65:1....

Where in Oz?

Hi Thanks for the reply I live in Stratford a small town in Central Gippsland Eastern Victoria.

It has a B after the serial number. I thought was 1.98:1 I will have to pull the top and check the gear count?

Just went back out to the shed and checked. I have to turn the shaft 1 5/8 turns to one turn of the prop so that should be 1.65:1 So all is good.
