Try as I might, I cannot find any numbers on this engine.

Apparently it's a V4, 90HP, made around the early 80's. It's electric start with power tilt and trim.

I've attached a pic - I'll try to remember to take some pics with the cover off.

Is it easily identifiable or did they make a number of different models like this?

I'd like to get a manual for this engine, so I need to know the model number.

Cheers,

JB

Thanks Spingley, I'll sniff around some more and see if I can spot it.

Doesn't help matters that someone has repainted and decaled the motor...

You may find the quarter-sized casting plug on the top of the powerhead may have the information you are looking for. Yours may be painted over, but look for it-the serial number and model number may be stamped there-identical to the original tag on the transom bracket. This plug in the attached picture is stamped 1975 135 hp. Your model code will read slightly differently. It has to be at least an 81, as that is when they upped the hp from 85 to 90 hp.

Nice. I was looking for a pic like that. There have been so many post reguarding this. You don't mind if I steal that pic for future use?
