I recently purchased 1974 mercury 40 4hp. There is a 1/4" diameter rod 6" long with a ball on one end attached to a socket of a part I believe having something to do with the tilt of the motor. The other end has a 45degree X 1/2" bend in it. This end is hanging free. I cannot find any place for it to fit. Any help would be appreciated.
