I am confused. The "4.3GLPWTR" on the plastic piece over the fuel pump is coming up for 1998-1999 and my boat is a 2000. Another thing, when I look up parts for the same engine it shows a throttle body and the boat actually has a carburetor (Holley).

The engine that I just pulled is a Jasper (large provider of re-manufactured engines) rebuilt engine, so I am aware that it is not original. I am not able to explain these other discrepancies mentioned above. Does Larson keep records on this that I could inquire about?

Boat makers dont build engines they buy them, so the 98-99 motor in a 2000 model year boat (that probably started production sometime in early to mid 1999) isnt surprising.

Not an I/O guy, so cant help on the efi vs carb models

Thanks guys. I know the automotive industry parts castings are actually made some time before cars are actually made. Merc and V/P are ordering the long blocks then taking a while to equip them for the boat manufacturers. If my boat is an early 2000 that would be a probable match. When I looked at this boat I KNEW it had problems, but wanted to make sure that everything was there so I did not have to chase parts (gets costly quick). I did find a couple wires chopped, but it looks good otherwise.
