identifying hp and year. also help repainting.

I had one of yall give me the hp and year for my evinrude...but i forgot. lol its either a 9.9 or 15. the hood says 9.9 but on the plate it says max hp at 5500 rmps is 15hp...so idk! lol
my modle number is-E15RLCIS and serial number is-E0001858.

my other question is on repainting the outer part of the engine and hood..what are some items i need like what grit sandpaper? and i would like to paint it a darker blue to match my 2009 blue 15'4" Gheenoe what type of paint would i need to get and primer and were would i get it from?

The CI in your model number is for 1981. Your Model number is for a 15HP motor, not a 9.9; see what is on the welch plug on the engine block.

Use automotive engine paint on the engine.

this is for the outside of the engine...not inside the actual engine inside the cowl.

so id have to sand the old paint down lightly.

then lay down a primer.

then the final coat of engine paint.
