watch your linkage as someone moves the control. the is an idle stop screw with a rubber tip that can be adjusted. idle should be 650 to 750 faster than that can damage the lower unit, when shifting. not over 800.
I don't have a shop manual for your motor, so can't tell you what it looks like. You should be able to tell by watching the timer base as the throttle is advanced slowly to full (motor not running). The timing stop will stop the motion of the timer base before full throttle. That'ds the one you don't want to mess with.
it appears this motor has two adjusters, the timing adj. i see, the other seems to be a stop that effects full throttle position , it only hits the stop at full throttle.
